AMAZING BEDSIDE TABLE MAKEOVER

Welcome back to my blog, everyone!! I am currently in the very big, very fun process of renovating all the furniture in my home.

And you know me - I LOVE DIY - duh! So, I am here to show you how I do all the upcycling of my furniture so that you can do the same as well!

We’re gonna start with an amazingbedside table makeover flip that is gonna take your regular bedside table and make it look high-end and fashionable! Let’s get started!

So, what will you need?

  • Your boring old bedside table that you want to renovate
  • Some paper
  • Some bowls or other household items that you will use as a stencil
  • A pen
  • Some leftover wood from other projects
  • A sanding machine
  • Glue
  • Nails and screws
  • Paint brushes and rollers
  • And the  paint you want your table to be!

And how do you do it?!

  1. First up, remove the drawers from your bedside table - this is where the magic is going to happen, baby!
  2. Using your bowls (or other items that you like the shape and size of), layout how you’d like your textured pattern to look on your drawers
  1. When you’re happy with your plan, get the paper and pen and then draw around the bowl to get your stencil

I decided that the stencil from the bowls I drew was way too round for me, so I cut the edges off a little to make a gorgeous curvy-square shape that I knew would be PERFECT on my table

  1. When you’re happy with your shapes, go get that wood, guys! It’s time to cut out the shapes!

Remember you’ll need enough shapes for your whole bedside table. I decided I wanted four shapes for each drawer, and I have two bedside tables, so I needed 24!

And whatever you do - do NOT get rid of the leftover wood! You’re gonna need them to make the shapes pop out of the table, giving it a 3D look AND doubling up as a handle, too. The pieces of wood for this part do not need to be any particular shape, and they don’t need to be sanded either - no one is going to see them!

  1. Get your sander and sand those edges!
  2. Next up, sand down the WHOLE bedside table - the finish that is already on it does not take well to being painted on. We need to get rid of all that stuff before we can paint on it.
  3. If your table has some imperfections, don’t forget to fill those in before you paint!
  4. Now is where the magic really starts! Put glue on both sides of the scrap wood you are using to make the handles. On one side, stick the shapes you made from the bowl template, and then stick the whole thing to the drawer! Add nails once you’ve done this, too.

9. For extra security, drill screws into the handles from the inside of the drawer, too!

10. Let’s get painting! You’re gonna need a roller and a little brush, too, for this one. The roller is for the big bits, and the brush is for the tricky angles from the lovely textured shapes you’ve just made!

And that’s it! Your bedside table should look good as new - actually, scrap that, BETTER than it did when it was new! I hope you love yours just as much as I loved mine!
