Cardboard Couch for $20!

I am back with another DIY creation and TRUST me; you’re not gonna believe what I’m about to say is true… you can make a fully functioning, secure and stable, COMFORTABLE couch with nothing more than cardboard and foam (well, and some glue, of course). See, I knew you would be sceptical! But I KNOW you are intrigued!

And you haven’t even heard the best part yet… you can make it for no more than TWENTY dollars! You probably think I’m crazy right now, but it’s true!

Let me prove it to you! All you need are:

I’m gonna prove it can be done!

1. Get your first bit of cardboard and divide it into 10 parts lengthways using a pen.

2. Now cut out the shape of the couch (a bit of an uneven L shape) 30 times - you need 30 pieces of identical cardboard!

3. Take three of those cardboard pieces and glue them together, then tape the edges for EXTRA security.

4. Once done, it’s time to magically create the structure of your couch. You won’t believe how quickly this happens! You should now have 10 sets of cardboard cutouts. Take each one and glue them along one line you made on the first bit of cardboard.

5. Now cut out small rectangles of cardboard and glue and slot them in between each of the 10 couch-shaped cardboard pieces.

6. Put a little tape across the part of the couch that you will sit on and a little on what will become the backrest. Glue whole pieces of cardboard onto both these sections. Repeat for every surface of the couch (front, top, and back).

7. Grab your spray glue and cover the entire surface of the couch! Then take your foam and do the same. You want the WHOLE couch to be nice and soft and cozy!

8. The last step is to cover it in fabric. Place it over the couch gently, fold the edges so it looks neat and fits well, then go ahead and glue it all into place!

And VOILA! Don’t think it will hold you? Just try it - I BET it works! That’s because we have made it super secure with all the cardboard and how we have stuck it together. Trust me; it’s science… I don’t know how, but it works like a charm! I love this piece, and I hope you do, too!
