DIY Plexiglass Curvy Table (version 2)!

Okay, I am still VERY much in my plexiglass era… I just can’t stop making things with plexiglass. I’ve already found out how easy it is to cut plexiglass, but now I am all about BENDING it! That’s right; I’m gonna bend plastic like a magician and make beautiful pieces of furniture. The best bit? You can do it, too!

This time, I’m gonna make a curvy table. What do you need to make this, too?

Now let’s make the magic happen…

1. First up, grab your plexiglass… duh! You’re gonna need a plan, so grab a pen, too!

2. Take the stickers off both sides of the plexiglass.

3. Now mark up 40cm on each end - these will be the legs of the table!

4. You’ll need to find something in your home to help you with bending the angles for this next step, so that could be a shelf, a big book, anything!

5. Oh, and don’t make my mistake: when you’re ready to get bendy, wipe away the marker pen! Turns out, once you use a heat gun on it, it’s there for LIFE!

6. So, using your shelf/book, place it against the inside of the line you’ve drawn for one of the legs and get the heat gun - it’s about to get HOT! A little note: this is gonna take a while. I think it took about 10 minutes to heat it enough for me to bend (and I ended up breaking a LOT of plexiglass getting to that stage). Trust me, when it’s hot enough, it will take no effort at all to bend it!

7. Now do the same for the other leg.

8. Once they’re done, we can concentrate on the REALLY fun bit - the curves in the table! You’ll need another object from your home for this next step, and it needs to be curved. Something like a toilet roll tube would work, or if you have anything bigger that is curved, that would be great, too. Just make sure it’s not plastic otherwise… well, yeah, it’s gonna melt.

9. Now just place that object against one of the curves you’ve just created, then heat the plastic on the other side and curve as you go. This is gonna take patience, but it will be so worth it!

10. You can go ahead and decide where the inside curves are gonna go and how big they need to be, and then bend those, too! If you need to, tape your object to the plexiglass while you do that, so you don’t have to worry about holding it in place.

Now you have a super cool table that fits your phone, magazines, TV remotes, and everything else in it, and you made it ALL by yourself! I hope you love it!
